Stations stop working when school internet goes down
WMS2012 Premium + 20 HP T200 zero clients
Hi to all,
I successfully installed WMS2012 Premium on this hardware:
CPU: Xeon E5-1620
24GB RAM
VGA 2 X NVIDIA GT420
Then I installed all drivers, UR1 and drivers for zero cliets.
Network Tab appears in Multipoint Manager. All 20 clients successfully assigned to Multipoint Server.
Why in Station Tab shows only 14 stations? How can I view all 20 stations?
Thanks in advice,

What is the minimum "extent" for WMS 2012 Disk Protection?
I tried to enable disk protection on my WMS 2012 server and got this error message:
The size of the extent is less than the minimum
I assume that this is referring to disk space. How much disk space is needed?

Automatically Provision Auto-Login Accounts (WMS2012)
So I just found these WmsCmdlets the other day, and figured I would whip up a simple script to automate the provisioning of auto-logins. We use these to great effect in all of our computer labs, but it's always a drag spending the 10 minutes or so setting up the accounts. In our environment we use generic student AD accounts, but this script would work just as well with local accounts.
The only thing that is needed to use this script is that the accounts need to name sequentially e.g. student1, student2, student3, etc.. and have the same password. If there is any interest this script could easily be modified to hand command line arguments and be a little more flexible, but for now I designed this to work with my setup.
Function Convert-Base64 ([string]$arg1) { [System.Convert]::ToBase64String([System.Text.Encoding]::UNICODE.GetBytes($arg1)) } # Modify these vars with your account info $Domain = "DOMAIN" # Use "." for local accounts $WmsUser = "username" $WmsPass = "P@ssword" # Start Script Import-Module WmsCmdlets $Stations = Get-WmsStation $Count = 1 ForEach ($Station in $Stations.Id) { $User = $Domain + "\" + $WmsUser + $Count Set-WmsStation -StationId $Station -EnableAutoLogon -AutoLogonUserName $(Convert-Base64 $User) -AutoLogonPassword $(Convert-Base64 $WmsPass) if ($?) { $Count++ } else { Write-Host "There was an Error!" ; break } }
WMS 2012 and Touchscreen Support over Network Clients
Hi all,
I recently setup some virtual machines to operate with Dell Wyse E02 network clients. I purchased touch screen monitors to go with the zero clients, thinking that the E02's USB input would recognize the monitor as a keyboard and mouse. Upon testing the scenario, I found that the touch screen capabilities do not work.
Is there anyway to configure WMS so that touch screens may be used over virtual desktops & network clients?
Thank you so much in advance for the help!
Multipoint 2012 stations connected but not connected
Greetings,
I have a WMS2012 server with 8 Wyse E02 clients. All clients connected normally, except for two of them. Both units that do not connect show up in the unassigned window as "not connected." All stations were working normally until they were assigned a different station number. Now, others still work fine, however, two of them will not connect to mulitipoint. The server see them, but I cannot get them to connect.
Latest drivers are loaded for video and wsye devices. I'm thinking that they are blocked or otherwise prevented from connecting to MPS. I've reset them back to factory power on state with no luck.
Thanks for the help.
Zero Client trial Waiting for the Assigned Host
I've setup a trial MultiPoint 2012 server in Hyper-V using the trial license key noted in the trial download instructions. I installed the additional drivers which will allow Zero Clients (using ThinGlobal MultiPoint Ethernet) to connect to the MultiPoint server, installed the required Windows Update to support additional clients, and once installed and rebooted a few times the MultiPoint Manager displays the Network Stations tab.
Using Network Stations I scanned for clients and the test Zero Client was displayed, I assigned that to the MultiPoint server and it shows in the Assigned Client list at the bottom of the screen, but with a Status of Not Connected. On the Thin Client's screen it shows "Waiting for Assigned Host", whereas I was expecting it to show the Windows MultiPoint client login screen (never used this before so not sure).
I've created Users, made sure the server has up-to-date patches, and even re-installed the server from scratch but has made no difference. The MultiPoint server is definitely in Station Mode and no errors are appearing in the Event Logs. The server though is only licensed with the Trial server license, but under the Home tab it shows there are no client licenses. Am I not able to connect clients just with the trial server license, not much of a worthwhile trial if that is the case?
Thanks
New Version of WMS
Hi Everyone
Anyone heard of any talk of a new version of WMS or an upgrade to V12? I think it's overdue.
There seems to be very little chatter from Microsoft.
cheers
Outlook 2010 connected through exchange server on Multipoint Sever 2011 Station
We have various stations running on a Multipoint Sever 2011. One of the stations uses Outlook 2010 with email account connected through an exchange server. The other stations have local Outlook email profiles. When the stations with local profiles have Outlook working, the station with the exchange server email profile is unable to connect to the exchange server. If the local profile stations close outlook, the connection to the exchange server succeeds. Please advise.
USB drives showing to all users
Our university has implemented Multipoint Server 2011 (soon upgrading) with Ncomputing L300 thin-clients for all students and faculty. Everything runs smoothly, however, we are seeing an issue where plugged in USB drives are appearing to all logged-in users opposed to just the user plugging into their terminal. As you can imagine, this can become a serious issue where students are able to view faculty data and vice versa. Even a plugged-in smart phone has appeared on the network. Where can we modify this setting so that drives do not appear for all users?
We currently utilize Active Directory and users plug their flash drives directly into the L300 Thin-clients. This must continue to occur because students need to save assignments and they print often.

Upgrade of WMS 2012 to full Production
Hello All,
I have a question and although I have searched, I still cannot find a resolution. I have downloaded and installed WMS 2012, 180 day trial version and need to upgrade to the full production version. I have Volume License agreements but where in the world can I input this information to upgrade to the NON-trial version?
I'm new to thin clients and need a bit of help. Thank you for your time.

MultiPoint Server 2012 has no options to switch from Console Mode to Station Mode
We have a customer who is using MultiPoint Server 2012. I see no subcategory for this server operating system so I thought I should just post it under Server 2012 since that is what it is running.
They are wanting to use the Wyse Zero Client with MultiPoint Server to connect people to terminals on the WMS. All the options for Station Mode are completely missing except the option to create a station template. We can create the station template but the option to create a station based on the template is missing.
