Windows multipoint server 2012 cannot connect to the session on take control and project

I am using Windows Multipoint Server 2012 Premium. I am able to create two stations. One running an admin user account and the other standard user account (non-admin). I am able to monitor the non-admin session in Multipoint Dashboard app. I am also able to launch and close apps. I am also able to send and receive IM.

I am facing trouble in taking control of the non-admin session or projecting my(admin's) display onto it. On the non-admin display I see a message "Administrator now has control of your keyboard and mouse". While, on the admin window I see the error: "The Take Control action failed. Multipoint cannot connect to the session."

Similarly, when I try to project my display, I see "Projection failed. Unable to connect to session."

Please help me fix this. :(

How to run a presentation from the host (admin) PC on clients?

Please help,

I need to run presentations (in Powerpoint or some other app), or to just perform actions on my desktop that the clients can watch on their screens.

Basically, I have a server and two more client servers in the clasroom, each client server has 6 separate monitors and keyboards. I want to work on my desktop and the students should monitor my actions on their screen, without interfering.

Can it be done, and where can I find the instructions? If possible, please provide me the steps I should take to enable this.

Multipoint Server Requirements and Questions

Hello,

i am planning a classroom with a Multipoint Server 2012 Premium System an Office 2013 installed on it. I want to use Dell Zero Clients as "Workstations"

I testet it on a Server with an core two duo cpu an two Dell Zero  Clients (because currently i haven´t more to test  )

It works well. Now i have got several questions and i cant find an answer :-)

1. What about the licencing of the Office Suite? Do i only Need one Office licence and 10 cals or do i need 10 Licences of Office?

2. I dont know, which hardware requirements i really need. I am planning a System with 32 GB RAM... but waht kind of cpu and what kind of graphic card? The pupils mostly work with Office, Internet-Explorer or other little tools. No Video or music applications (except videos in the intenet.)

3. I am also looking for a possibility to deny the access to several Internet sites. Something like a web-filter so that they cant open sites with pornographic content and so on...

Can anybody help me, please?

How can I work without a keyboard on a touch based station

I am using Windows Multipoint Server 2012 Premium evaluation version. How can I work on a station, with integrated touch feature, without a keyboard?

In the beginning itself the station is stuck at "Creating a multipoint server station. Press 'C'". Now, since I a want all interactions on this station to be touch based, I have not provided any keyboard to press 'C' there. How can I login and operate this station?

Multipoint server 2011 Maintenance mode

About 2-3 weeks ago our multipoint server 2011 keeps restarting in or somehow switching to maintenance mode and after about 6 times of clicking on "normal mode" windows finally restarts in normal mode.  Was there a windows update that is causing this to happen?  We have had these multipoints in place for 4 years and have never had this issue.  Thanks Debbie

WMS 2011 on Ncomputing L300

Hi,

I am setting up a test center using a Host PC with WMS 2011 and Ncomputing L300 devices as my access points. Downloaded WMS 2011 evaluation copy and purchased the product key and 50 CAL through Volume Licensing.

My troubles are:

  1. I get a message telling me to update the display drivers for the hardware. Where do i get display drivers for WMS 2011. My Host PC/Server is HP pavilion Elite e9250t and the HO website has no drivers for this OS.
  2. Second Message is for me to have a usb hub with a keyboard and mouse attached to it be connected to the computer. I am using a LAN setup, so cant figure out why i am being asked for USB station/hub.
  3. Thirdly and more confusing is another message telling me there is a keyboard and mouse attched to the root hub that i should unplug.
  4. License- i have purchased the product key(WMS 2011 Premium) and CAL licenses. Unable to activate the software online and the number +22520310500 given for Rwanda is not going through.

Any help in resolving the above issues will be highly appreciated.

no video on clients after reboot mulitpoint 2012 server

hi guys,

i'm pretty new on wms so i wonder if someone can help me,

where running wms 2012 on a hp prodesk 400 G1 with wyse client, this works fine expect 1 thing.

when there is no monitor attached to the server and it reboots or after shutdown the clients have no video.

the moment i put in the vga within 10sec all the clients get the login screen.

the point is we dont want there is a monitor on the server all the time.

anyone have a solution for this?

Multipoint server 12 station freezes

I'm having a very weird issue. I'm using multipoint server 12 with ncomputing u170's. the system works fine besides when using microsoft word if i move the mouse to the left side of the screen the station freezes. By freeze  i mean the mouse and keyboard dont work and the image on the screen is frozen to the extent that even if i restart the system the image is still frozen unless i remove the usb cable.

This only happens in microsoft word. very weird.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this will be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone tell me if server 2012 emulates server 2003, we have old in house developed software that runs on sever 2003 or PC's that emulate XP Pro and Win7 only, we use the software for our manufacturing facility and currently don't have the resources to redevelop this software

MultiPoint 2012 Server License Installation Rejection

I have installed MultiPoint 2012 Standard server in a VM for testing, using MSDN .ISO installation media and license code. I then tried to use a code for "Windows Server 2012 Remote Desktop Services Device CAL (50)" and it is rejected by the server. I also tried to activate the code using activate.microsoft.com website and it also failed there.

What is the proper routine for installing licenses on Multipoint?

I am installing a computer lab for a school in Haiti that requires 25+ workstations.  I would like to use NComputing L300 clients using NComputing vSpace on the server.  It is my understanding that Multipoint Server 2012 Premium has a limitation of 20 simultaneous such stations.  What are my options to have 25 or more?

Problem with my keyboard in station mode when connected to a usb hub

MY keyboard does not seem to work even though it is connected to a USB hub when multipoint is in station mode. Also my explorer cannot connect to the internet even though I have an active internet connection. what could be the problem.

License Fail with MSDN Media

I obtained MultiPoint 2012 Standard server and installed it using MSDN .ISO installation media and license code.

I then tried to add CALs to it using the control panel, using one of the codes issued to me from MSDN "Windows Server 2012 Remote Desktop Services Device CAL (50)". The code was acknowledged/recognized by the server, but the CALs were rejected and not installed.

I then tried to add the CALs using the MSDN codes on  activate.microsoft.com website and it also failed there.

How can I install MSDN CALs into Windows MultiPoint Server 2012?

Can a thin client with a Celeron or atom processor be used as a thin client? I want to set up virtual machines for VDI that can do most basic home computer uses - but this would include streaming video's with good quality.

Multipoint Server 2012 Premium dashboard station view doesn't work for domain users

Using rdp to connect to 2012 multipoint premium server connected to a domain.   From the multipoint dashboard local users stations work fine we can view, take control, project etc.. but the dashboard view of domain users connected to the server just show a ethernet end with a big red X.   This is connecting from the same machine to the server via rdp.

Is this expected behavior?

I just have hold the multipoint server 2012 in our e classroom starting October 2014. The server has just connected to the internet last March 2, 2015 but my problem was I can't access anymore to the 50 Ncomputing clients which previously done whenever classes starts, I can't even share the internet connection to the clients. What must I do to restore the connection of the server to the clients and to share the internet connection to the clients? Please help,  I don't have much knowledge on the computer programming, I just obtain my computer literacy through self study. I was appointed as the IT coordinator in our school but honestly I don't have much knowledge on computer programming and hardware servicing but then I honestly wanted to learn more on this.

In house IT infrustracture

Hello,

So I am the only IT person in our company. It's a mid sized business , we have about 90 employees. We have office 365 for office suites. We don't have Active directory or exchange server or any servers for that matter, we have two file servers in house but that's about it. We have a vendor (myhosting) for our email so they have a server for us on the cloud and they charge us by user. Most of our servers are hosted by Rackspace. 

Now I have a pretty good idea about configuring servers including server 2012 but most of my career I have always been a helpdesk technician, tier 3, in all of the big companies I worked for in the past. However, this company doesn't have any ideas on how IT department is suppose to run, how it would involve a system engineer at the minimum so I they come to me for everything...advanced staff...so now they want me to come up with a plan to have IT in house, bringing all servers from racks-pace, implementing exchange server, AD ...( they have no idea what i'm talking about IT infrastructure, AD or Exchange server... they just want to cut costs... and they want everything to be done by me. This includes, planing, budgeting, implementing, deploying and IT Infrastructure by me...they point their figure at me for everything. I mentioned to them we might need an engineer but they pointed their figure at me...no wonder why they paid me a litter more extra than what other companies would pay for a helpdesk technician and i'm used to the money so I don't want to go back. Also, I do want advance my career somewhere so I want to do it all...this is stepping stone  for me to be a system engineer. 

So my question is:

1. What is the best Microsoft certification exam or a book  I need to prepare my self.

2. Is it ideal to implement Active Directory for 80-100 employees, also is there a number of employee required for AD?

3. What is the best resource or guide I can get to help me design an IT Infrastructure for Midsized business?

4. What kind of networking do I need? Is it better to manage Networking, Firewall in-house when having IT Infrastructure in-house?

5. What are the minimum Hardware and Software I need to begin with?...we have about 20 instances on Rackspace...our SharePoint and web server is hosted by myhosting.com

4. What is the maximum for visualization...how many servers? Also, what servers are better off to put them in Hyper-v or any visualization...SQL, file servers?

5. Would AD and Exchange server be configure in one server and are called domain servers?

6. Is there a best  tool or software to design an IT infrastructure ...that's already designed for that? Other than Visio?

7. What are the main networking infrastructure concepts I need to know for implementing IT Infrastructure in-house. DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP? What is the best resource/book/guide/too/ I can get to get a good understanding of how to implement those?

8. Are DNS and DHCP servers configure in a separate server, I know what they are but I never configured one...so how does it work...does it work in a server that has AD or it has to be on a different server?

9. Is it easier to get Microsoft partnership for midsize business or go through dealers?

10. What is the easiest way to get Microsoft certification? I have a good experience with Microsoft windows and products but never had any certification. How long does it take to study the required exams and get certified?

11. How long does it take to build an IT Infrastructure for midsize business (we are government contractors, most of our servers like SQL servers and web servers are for our clients but we have developers for dealing with those...I just need to bring those servers in-house and configure them as a company equipment and maintain them... kind of like System Administrator. 

I appreciate any help on this...I do!
