We are running WMPS 2011, with ncomputing x550 zero clients.  All of the stations have been assigned a USB port from the NComputing manager.  When a student plugs in a PNY, Cyberxxx or several other brands the drive does not appear.  But there are several other brands that work (appear in explorer) at the same stations.  What can be done to resolve this issue?

Do we have to plug the unknown drives directly into the server logged in as an administrator?

We don't want to give the students rights to install devices.

In DHCP we have a multicast scope..as we know we cannot use multicast ip address on machines then y do we use multicast scope?or is it used to provide ip addres for any other devices apart from our pc's or laptops??

Using rdp to connect to 2012 multipoint premium server connected to a domain.   From the multipoint dashboard local users stations work fine we can view, take control, project etc.. but the dashboard view of domain users connected to the server just show a ethernet end with a big red X.   This is connecting from the same machine to the server via rdp.

Is this expected behavior?

Hi all,

I recently setup some virtual machines to operate with Dell Wyse E02 network clients. I purchased touch screen monitors to go with the zero clients, thinking that the E02's USB input would recognize the monitor as a keyboard and mouse. Upon testing the scenario, I found that the touch screen capabilities do not work.

Is there anyway to configure WMS so that touch screens may be used over virtual desktops & network clients?

 Is it possible to modify the default setting in Multipoint 2012 to permit display/control of sessions for users who are members of the local Administrators group?  We have a workaround/bug in an application we are running in MPS which requires this elevated privilege, but obviously can't see/control the sessions of these users with the Dashboard, unless I'm missing something.

Hi

I've setup a Multipoint 2012 test environment with 4 stations. I have enabled the desktop virtualization option and have created a Win7 template and deployed the 4 Win7 virtual desktops off that template. I can connect to each VM individually from each station.

My question is that if I add 2 more stations, will WMS 2012 automatically detect these as new stations and create more instances of the Win7 virtual desktop from template ?. It didn't for me. When I tried clicking on the create virtual desktop it created fresh VM's from the template for all 6 stations. Is there are way that WMS 2012 would only create the additional 2 station VM's instead of all 6 ?

I have two multipoint servers, one 2011 and one 2012.  I'm trying to migrate my clients over to the 2012 one so I can replace the 2011 one with 2012.  I was able to get a zero client up and running fine on the 2012 server, using a domain name for a login.  I then tried to unassign two of my zero clients from the 2011 server and assign them to the 2012 one.  The first seemed to be OK, but when I hit the assign button for the second one, I had a blue screen:

Now both zero clients cause this kind of reboot if they are assigned to the 2012 server.

Is there a way to clear out the MPS database - to make it forget about any clients that have ever connected?

My guess is that those clients were not quite disconnected from the 2011 server (suspended??) when I assigned it to the 2012 one.

Hi,

After install WMS 2012 and patch WMS-KB2791647-ENU-x64, all hardware drivers and patches, the system ran well for 2 days, but then the screen saver pops up frequently with visible mouse pointer.

Whenthe screen saver pops up and I move the mouse, the desktop near the mouse appears but soon the screen switches from desktop to screen saver. Please check the video below:

The issue is gone in safe mode.

Disabling screensaver doesn't work.

The graphic card is Nvidia Q600, with latest driver.

Hi, we are running Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 on 4 Dell 9010 machines and 45 Wyse E02 clients connected by 4 switches. Every week we got 2 or 3 random BSoD for all servers at the same time. Memory dump for server 2,3,4 show that the exception is from NUServer64.sys.

Please check below for the system event logs and memory dump analysis output.  Any help would be appreciated!

I want to implement thin client architecture in my college computer lab, also post implementation 

i want to use some IDE like eclipse, VB etc as a Software as a Service(SaaS).

Please help me regarding this .. as in which OS should I choose for the server and how do i connect the thin clients to the server on LAN. 

I would preferably like to use a windows environment.

My target is to connect min 5 thin client desktops to one single server desktop, and all the application deployed on the server PC being can be accessed from the thin client desktop using virtualization.

I have a multipoint server 2012 running with 11 clients. The teacher uses the server as computer. Only every reboot he has to enable audio.

Once enabled it works perfect until next reboot.

Is there an update to fix this? I don't want to change registry keys or something, I am not computer savvy enough for that.

Hi,

i manage 65 thin clients(VXL), i use an IBM server, running window server 2008 and i have Virtual Machines running WMS 2012, but on the clients (VXL Thin client), i am unable to record. I used an headphone on it and i was able to listen to musics and other sounds but i could not record to it. It says it could not detect an audio device. Yet the 2  head phone cables are plugged to the right place in the thin client. I need help on this. I am in a school environment and they really use headphones and they record voices.

Have no sound on a main station when it used in normal mode. 

When i connect Keybord and mouse directly to it, and run maintenance mode, everything is normal.

But as i know in maintenance mode i will not see USB connected stations. Today we use only L300 ( ncomputing).

In Future we want to buy some usb stations.

Is it correct?

Is any way to config sound in normal mode?

how to use audio and mic with multipoint server with out it crashing on you when i use them to make calls thru my station (zero client) at the same time it crashes on me and i need to restart the multipoint is there a setting i may have mist that enable's them to work at the same time and if posible can i use a non USB device

there are a slew of great updates that happened to hyperv in server 2012r2, but an update for mutlipoint server r2 never came out.. i am wondering if there will ever be a R2 build and if not when we can expect to see these features added? i can also live with using server 2012 r2 and being able to somehow install and manage clients via multipoint admin ...

Hi There.

This is my first time posting on the multipoint forum.

Currently I have a client that has a specific in house developed application that needs to work on either multipoint 11 or 12. The application was developed around PC architecture and the problem that we are experiencing is the software has a unique identifier built into the software to pre authenticate the user prior to logon using a MAC address and Computer Name. The problem with this is that each user currently connecting to the Multipoint environment gets the servers MAC address and Computer Name.

Is there a way that we could assign unique MAC addresses and Computer Names per user session? If not is there another work around that can be recommended this is something I have been battling with for quite some time?

When i am log-on to the MPS2012 through the thin client and let say there was a need to re-connect because of power issue or the network issue for that particular client was disconnected; So when the user connect back to it, it bounces back and fails for re-login, after re-logging again, it still bounce back. And other client connect to the particular VM are still connected and running.

And also in the morning, when i connect, it fails at times and when i ping that particular VM, it times out"Request time out", until i restart it before it start replying and then the client systems will now be able to connect.

Its giving me concern because they are complaining and also its a school environment. I need resolve this so that even if i am not there they will be able to connect easily and re-connect easily if there was a disconnection from any thin client.

Please i will really appreciate if anyone can assist me resolve any of this issue or what the cause/problem is.

Im sorry for the very noobish question, Im not a tech guy but Iv been tasked to gather as much info as I can that could help my company out with a future project. 

I work for a small trading company with many of our traders scattered about the country. Given that we are scattered and are currently working on some in house trading programs, we would like to setup a powerful computer at one central point (as close to the trading hub as we can get) and be able to have each trader log in and run their own copy of these programs as needed. We have been currently testing out Virtual systems that we log in through RDC but that requires each having their own account.

I recently heard about "multipoint servers" and was hoping this would work for our needs. As I said we want to setup a pc at one central location, what I guess Im trying to find out is, does multipoint server offer virtual environments without the need for extra hardware like monitors/keyboards/mouse for each user? And can they be logged into through remote desktop or other remote logins? I saw a video involving a classroom where each student had their own hardware minus the actual pc. 

If it does offer the virtual environments, what are some of the specs, such as screen resolutions for each desktop and what is the limit on how many personal desktops the pc can run? Im sure Ill have more questions but I think this is a good starting point to even see if this would work for our needs. Thanks
