Hello - I have dowloaded the Server 2012 Evaluation iso. I am installing it on a VMWare Player VM. At the beginning of the installation, I receive the following error; "Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation" I did not use a Product Key during the creation of the VM. I have tried 2 additional iso images I downloaded from Technet but I get the same error. Also, how would I get a Product Key for thei Trial Version to add to my VM deployment. Security & Restrictions for common user ina School Environment
I'm testing Multipoint Server 2012 for a school environment. Each classroom will have a server, managed by the teacher and the students will access it using RDP from tablets or laptops.
My question is:
How can I "Isolate" the student users in the server? I mean, I do now want the student users to access other user folders, any system folder or even the control panel. However the "Teacher" user must have unrestricted access to all folder and settings.
Adding Virtual Desktop Stations not possible.
I have successfully installed MP 2012 and created a virtual desktop template so no issues there.
However i am not presented with the possibility to create a station, a link that should be undir the tasks area in Virtual Desktops but unfortunately is not available.
Any ideas?
WMS 2011 stuck screensaver

I am doing a trial in my organization with WMS 2011. I am having an issue where the WMS will boot into normal mode (or appear to) and immediately display the screensaver on all of the stations (including the primary). I cannot exit the screensaver with any keystroke or mouse movement on any of the stations. RDPing into the machine gives me the ability to work with it though. I do see SRCShell logged in and the appropriate tasks running.
Here is probably the key to this, but I am not sure how. This machine worked flawlessly until it was added to our domain. Once added I moved it to an OU that inherited no GP and only applied bare minimums (stuff for Firefox management and certificate inclusions for our web filter and WSUS box, IE settings like homepage). My next step of diagnostics is to even disable that stuff.
If that does not work my theory on this may be that either the default domain policy applied itself between the domain join and the movement into the OU. But I do not know of any policy that would cause this or how to revert it.
Any thoughts?

Office Licensing for WMS 2012
Hello,
I am looking to setup a WMS 2012 (Standard) for a small business client (5 total users at this time). I want to install Office on the server. Do I need to buy Office through the Open License program or can I buy retail licenses for each user? The client doesn't need most of the applications in Office 2013 Standard...they really only need Word for the most part which I see is available but Word through the Open License program is more expensive than Office Home and Business retail.
Would using an Office 365 subscription be an option on WMS 2012?

Not able to create a virtual desktop Template
we are trying windows multi point server 2012 - while creating a virtual desktop template it throws a error "cannot bind argument to parameter 'path' , because it is null "

Screen resolution clients
I have a client with Wyse E02 lan clients and MWS8820 usb client as a test.
Their client screen resolution remains at 1280x1024. Their monitors (Dell P2012H) native resolution is 1600x900 (16:9 aspect).
The displays is fuzzy which corresponds with the stretch between aspect ratios.
I cannot change their screen resolutions. It is greyed out on the clients, says it cannot be changed from a remote session.
I've read a post which says change into maintaince mode, then change it. I've done this remotley on the server and set 1600x900, also put the same monitor on it and installed the drivers.
I cannot do it from the clients, as when you switch to "console mode" (vs station mode on wms2012), it suspends all clients.
If I remote into a logged in client using teamviewer, same message, "cant be changed from remote session". If I remote in using rdp (to the server), you get "unknown monitor on RDPUDD Chained DD" and "the display settings cannot be changed from a remote session" (and it just shows my pc's res).
If I put server in "console mode" and then teamviewer in, I can change the res, but that only seems to change it for the server logon.
So. How can I change the clients resolution on WMS2012?
Monitor Resolution Settings
I just installed my first WMS 2011 system last week and have a question about the monitor resolution settings. I'm using the HP t200 Zero Client and I have a few users that would benefit from a different resolution, however when I go to try and change the resolution setting it is grayed out. Can the resolution be set on a per user basis or do all the workstations default to the resolution setting of the server?

Can you help with MultiPoint Server questions?
I am considering the use of MultiPoint Server for a classroom situation and was hoping someone could provide some additional insights into MultiPoint. The class instructor needs to connect to an interactive Internet site with IE. The instructors PC could either be a notebook PC or a MultiPoint server system (whichever would be most appropriate).
The need is mirror the instructors PC screen for up to forty (40) students, each of which will have a notebook PC. There is no need for the students to access any other resource or function from the Multipoint server. The server and client PCs will be on a non-domain local network.
I know that MultiPoint Premium will support (only) up to twenty (20) clients. So, is there a way to use two MultiPoint Premium servers, with both servers being used to mirror the same instructors PC screen, each serving up to twenty (20) student notebook PCs?
Also, the resource guidelines that I have read seem to deal with the client PCs using more services than just screen mirroring. Any info on how to estimate the MultiPoint Server machine configuration for just this function?
Finally, while I have a Technet subscription, I was hoping to initially download the non-Technet evaluation copy of MultiPoint Server 2011. All attempts my myself and another have failed to download the eval copy. The eval download always ends before the full 3.2GB has downloaded. Any suggestions on how to get the complete download?

Multipoint Server 2011 problems
Hi Everyone.
So, we have recently deployed a Multipoint Server 2011 enviroment to one of our costumers.
We used a Dell Poweredge 8xx series server for Multipoint purposes with the following technical data:
- Intel QC Xeon 2,4 Ghz
- 8GB RAM
- 4*500GB hard drive with RAID5
- AMD Radeon 5450 512MB DDR3 PCI-e x1
We also have 8 Dell Wyse E02 Zero Clients.
Our client have a 100Mbps network without issues (tested out fully)
We faced the following problems with this enviroment:
- Users experienced mouse lagging problems in browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome as well)
- We faced random monitor blinks (e.g.: 3 of 8 client goes out, but they return after 20-30 sec)
- We faced a complete blackout when the server was worked well but the clients weren't available.
Our main problem is the mouse lagging in browsers. We tried Update Rollup 1 and 1.1, but still facing this issue.

Remotefx on for WMS 2012 Premium running as guest on Hyperv 2012?

This link - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj916396.aspx - says WMS 2012 can run as a guest on a 2012 hyperv role. Further research suggests bare metal hyperv 2012 does not work but rather a full install of Server 2012 standard or higher with the hyperv role installed. Please confirm?
Also there is a requirement for video to have adequate playback off WMS guest sessions. Seems that need Remotefx to work to its best for this to work. My question is, does remotefx work when WMS2012 is a guest - does remotefx extend to the client sessions?

WMS 2012 and Create Virtual Desktop Stations for Thin Clients
Hi!
We would like to use WMS 2012 VDI with Atrust t60/t62 Thin Clients, that do support RemoteFX.
As we know and follows the instructions to create VDI Stations, we just get to create VDI Stations for Zero Clients (m320) and only limited number of them - only as many as there were connected Zero Clients.
Is there another way to create VDI Stations for Thin and Zero Clients?

Missing Button "Network Stations"

I am currently testing the last version of Multipoint 2012 premium edition.
The OS is updated to the latest version. I am currently testing the system in RDS mode two zero clients namely
MWS9940 and Atrust M320. At first i've installed the drivers for the MWS9940 and everything was fine. I've made a user which i connected trough the zero client. So far everything was good but the problem occured when i've wanted to install the drivers for the second zero client Atrust M320. Some errors poped up and i've decided to uninstall the drivers related to this zero client. After that when i started the Multipoint Manager the "Network Stations" button dissapeard.
Now i am not able to assign zero cleints to the server. (because the absence of this button)
Do you have any ideas how i can fix this and why this unpleasent event occured in the first place?

Multipoint 2012 VDI with linux VM? Does it work?

The premium edition of Multipoint 2012 is working with VDI but it seems there are some restrictions of the OS which
can be installed on the Virtual machines (win7 and Win8 professional). Do you have any idea if it is possible to
install on the VMs Linux OS? I would like to make such classrom on which the users can operate on VM's which can work both on linux guest and windows. Does Multipoint 2012 support this feature?

RDS Session problems

I couple of days ago i've installed the lates multipoint 2012 premium edition.
I've made an user account and i've connected and respectively assigned the zero client to the server.
The problem is that once i assign the zero client to the server the zero client doesn't display the initial log page.
Instead of this there is a black screen. When i press keyboard buttons on the keyboard attached to the connected zero client it influences on the server side. (i can control the server trough this keyboard). For some reason the second user which i made is
not working properly i suppose. Before 2-3 days it worked well. Any ideas?
