Onboard Audio WMS 2012

My understanding is that with WMS 2011, you can use a PS2 Mouse and Keyboard along with onboard Audio to create a session. With my evaluation copy of WMS 2012, the onboard Audio (VIA 1708S on an asus P8B75-M/CSM) driver is disabled in both console and normal mode. If I enable it in the device manager, everything seems to work but it doesn't stick. It will be disabled again if I log off and log back on. I've updated my drivers from the Microsoft HD Audio to Via generic (can't get the asus setup to work). The Audio services are running fine (set to Automatic).

I realize an alternative is to use a usb hub (with keyboard, mouse and audio) and then map it to the built in video.  Also, this method is the only way to have other usb devices that would be private to that station (like a USB stick), correct?
